Head Coach of the Riders Women, Matthew Harber, was named Coach of the Year at the annual Charnwood Sports Awards this week following a successful year with his team in EBL Division last season.

Coach Harber led the team all the way to the Championship in just their second season of EBL Division competition having won EBL Division Two the year before that. The team took the Championship victory with a 68-63 win over the Sheffield Hatters.

Coach Harber commented on receiving the award.

“To receive the award of Coach of the Year was a real surprise, but I was of course over the moon. As I said on the night, it is an absolute pleasure to work with our student-athletes on a daily basis and credit to them for continuing to believe in our system and our process during the good and bad times.”

Leicester Riders Women continue their season in the newly formed WBBL on Sunday as they take on Team Northumbria at Loughborough University at 4.30pm.
