Leicester Riders Women’s squad travels to Sweden today to continue their preseason preparations ahead of the 2014/15 WBBL season.
The team regrouped at Loughborough University at the beginning of September to begin the journey of the season and have since be joined by new signing Kastine Evans and freshman Ellie Maidman.
The team will be hosted by Visby Ladies Basketball Club of the Damligan (Swedish First Division) and Head Coach Matthew Harber is excited for the trip and interested to see how the new group responds to the challenges they will face.
“I’m very happy we were able to finalise this agreement with Visby Ladies Basketball Club and I think this will serve as a great opportunity and learning experience for all of our players and staff.
Visby have been extremely accommodating in supporting us throughout the summer months in organising this trip. We’re all very grateful for their continued support.
Visby are a club who have improved significantly in the Damligan (Swedish First Division) in recent years and I think they’re heading in the right direction under their Head Coach – Tamara Ruzic. I think the games we will play in Visby will be very challenging for our young team, but will undoubtedly help us to prepare for the upcoming WBBL season.”
The Riders Women open the season against Brixton Topcats on October 11th as part of the WBBL season opener. Click HERE for more information about the WBBL.
