The Leicester Riders will face the Nottingham Wildcats this weekend in the WBBL at Loughborough University’s Netball Centre at 4.30pm.
The Nottingham Wildcats have become a force to be reckoned with in the Women’s game in the past few seasons and are strong contenders to take the first ever WBBL League Championship, which looks set to be shaping up for a winner takes all final day matchup in Sheffield.
American Carmen Reynolds and Brit Chantelle Pressley have been the two reliable factors for ex Loughborough coach Dave Greenaway side averaging over 16 points per outing. Post-Christmas changes saw ex Cardiff Archer Rena Wakama and Swiss forward Annie Kassongo be brought into to bolster a depleted side that narrowly were defeated in two January Finals. It wasn’t until a fortnight ago in Northumbria saw the Wildcats slip to their first league defeat.
Former Loughborough players Lisa Roberts, Jennie Rodgers were joined this summer in Nottingham by Gillian Baird. Gill had previously spent the last four years playing for the Riders where she was part of the squad gaining promotion to the top tier before winning the Championship last April in her final game for the club and the trio will be key in stopping the Riders taking a big step forward to clinching a top 4 league spot.
Entrance to Saturday’s game is free with a valid Riders reservation for Sunday’s BBL Trophy Semi-Final game or is £3 for adults and £1 for Students/Children.
