American Neil Watson has been enjoying his first season as a professional after joining the Leicester Riders in the summer from the University of Southern Mississippi.

“Turning pro has been a good experience,” reflected Neil. “I live every minute of playing the sport I love, everyday. Living in England has been a good peaceful experience.”

Watson has certainly started to find the English way of life and has been to watch our local Premier sides.

“I like watching soccer, we went as a group to see Leicester City play which was cool. I’m a huge fan of the Tigers too. So I’m a big rugby fan now after watching those guys play. I would love to watch another match soon.”

“I think my ability to score has opened up more opportunities to pass.”

On the court, the likeable Point Guard has been hitting the headlines in recent weeks for the amount of assists he has been chalking up and he knows it adds a good dynamic to the group.

“I think my ability to score has opened up more opportunities to pass. It shows a more dynamic part to my game, I enjoy 15 assists games more than I do a 20 point games.”

“I love how dynamic we are, I only expect us to play hard every game. The whole team are looking forward to this weekend’s home game in the BBL Trophy.”

The club has recently launched Neil’s very own Limited Edition Slogan Tee ‘Fearless 5’, available in store, online or at this Saturday’s game.

Riders are asking all home fans attending to come to the game dressed in white for our first #WHITEOUT of the season!

This Saturday sees the Leicester Riders take on second-placed Worcester Wolves in the BBL Trophy Quarter Final… tickets are available here.
