Leicester Riders Guard Conner Washington will not return to the line up next season in the BBL.
Conner Washington will depart the Leicester Riders after 6 seasons of action for the club. The British guard joined the programme in the 2011/12 season upon return from playing basketball in the US and during his time in at the Riders has helped the club to nine pieces of silverware in the BBL as well as leading Loughborough University to their first Men’s BUCS Championship title in 22 seasons.
Coach Paternostro was disappointed to see Washington leave and wished him all the best in the future.
“We will miss Conner, he has been tremendous for our club both on the court and off.” Paternostro opened. “Conner talked to us when the season finished about his to desire to play abroad but we still tried to bring him back and are really disappointed that he has decided to leave.
“We respect his decision and wish him all the best. It has been awesome to work with him and to watch him grow and develop into the player and person he is today.”
Washington was named to the All-British First team in the BBL last season as well as the All-Defensive team whilst averaging 7.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in the Riders tremble winning season. The Beford native leaves the club with aims to pursue career opportunities outside of the BBL next season.
