Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders players have been named in every BBL Team of the Year, following the team’s historic season which now continues into the BBL Play-Off semi-finals.

The British Basketball League have named their Team of the Year, Defensive Team of the Year and All-British Team of the Year, with Leicester Riders featuring heavily in each select team.

It comes following a season which saw Leicester Riders finish the BBL Championship season in a record second spot in the division, accumulating a record 22 wins and achieving a record 73% win percentage.

Riders’ duo of Cameron Rundles and Ayron Hardy have been named in the BBL Team of the Year, coming as little surprise following equally impressive debut seasons in the BBL.

Over the course of the season, MVP contender Hardy was named in the BBL Team of the Week more times than any other player, achieving numerous Molten Player of the Month accolades whilst smashing statistics across the league.

Rundles has been a hugely influential presence on and off the floor for Riders this season, averaging 18.6 points and 4.6 assists-per-game – taking to the court in 38 games this year.

Ayron Hardy has also (unsurprisingly) been named in the BBL All-Defensive Team of the Year. Why unsurprisingly? Just look at this guy’s stats for the season. Ayron has averaged 8.3 rebounds-per-game, 2.7 steals-per-game and 1 block-per-game. The fact that he has also averaged 15.7 points-per-game also adds to just why Hardy has been a sensational player in his first year in BBL.

Fellow Rider Andrew Sullivan has been named on the bench for the BBL All-Defensive Team of the Year, with the GB captain having a superb impact on Riders’ season this year. Drew has put his body on the line to keep plays alive and used his expertise in the league to provide examples to some of the team’s more inexperienced players. Over the course of the year, Sullivan has averaged 7.8 rebounds-per-game.

Sullivan is also named in the BBL All-British Team of the Year, ahead of the forthcoming London 2012 Games, where he is expected to lead Team GB against China, Australia and Spain. In addition to his defensive prowess, Sullivan has also weighed in offensively; sinking an average of 13.4 points-per-game.

Congratulations to Cam, Ayron and Drew for their recognition for an incredible season, which is still very much going!
