Check out three things we learnt this weekend as the Riders booked a spot in the Quarter-Final of the BBL Cup on November 29th at 7.30pm.
Joe Scott has found his shooting touch
Last weekend was arguably Joe Scott’s best in a Riders uniform scoring a season high on Sunday against the Sharks after knocking down 3 threes in the third quarter as the Riders blew out the Rocks on Friday. Scott lead the Riders in scoring on Sunday with an impressive 20 points on 53% shooting including 6-12 from behind the arc as the Riders fell to the Sharks on the road, something Head Coach will no doubt be looking for as Scott becomes more comfortable in the BBL.
Kyron is back to his best
Since returning from an injury that sidelined him for 2 games in October Kyron Cartwright has been playing his best basketball since joining the club back in August. The American play caller was in fine form again this weekend putting on 2 fantastic all-round displays. Cartwright was a handful for the Rocks all evening on Friday pouring in 17 points on 8 for 10 shooting along with 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Kyron’s performance also earned him his first BBL Team of the week appearance of the season. Cartwright put in another impressive performance on the road against the sharks on Sunday finishing with a double double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists as the Riders fell on the road to the Sharks.
The Riders progress to the BBL Cup Quarter Finals as one of the top 2 seeds from the North
Following their impressive 93-58 demolition of the Glasgow Rocks the Leicester Riders cemented their position of one of the top 2 seeds progressing to the BBL Cup Quarter Finals. The Riders Quarter Final will take place on Friday November 29th at the Morningside Arena with their opponent to be confirmed this weekend at the conclusion of the BBL Cup group stage.
