Leicester Riders took victory in the British Basketball League Cup over the Manchester Giants on Diwali weekend at the Morningside Arena this weekend.

Check out three things we learned this weekend.

Sharing is Caring

The Leicester Riders currently lead the BBL in assists averaging 22.5 game and Saturday’s display against the Manchester Giants was yet another passing clinic from the team. The Riders had a season high 33 assists against the giants including 6 from Jamell Anderson and 7 each for Kyron Cartwright and new recruit Darien Nelson-Henry.

The unselfish ball movement of the Riders played a major part in them being able to knock down 14 3s on the night on the way to a 32 point demolition of the Giants

A Perfect night for Chuku

Over recent weeks British Forward Jesse Chuku has shown that he has plenty to the offer the this season. Chuku shot a perfect 10 for 10 from the floor on Friday Night on his way to 21 points and 5 Rebounds in just 19 minutes on court.

Jesse once again showed off his ability to stretch the floor from the 4 position scoring a number of midrange jumpers and 1 3 which troubled the Giants zone defence all evening. Chuku has had a bright start to his Riders career and is currently averaging 12.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game across 7 games this season.

Jonas is right at home in the BBL

Loughborough University Student Jonas Dietrich exploded off the bench for the Riders on Friday night posting a season high 19 points. Jonas shot 5/10 behind the 3 point line and played a key part in the Riders 30-16 second quarter which saw the Riders take control of the game.

Dietrich has joined the Riders squad this season following a successful period with the Loughborough Student Riders, Jonas has made a bright start to life with the Riders putting in some impressive performances including 11 points against the Giants on September 22nd before bettering that on Friday night.
