Ahead of the Riders game v the Glasgow Rocks on Friday night here’s three things to look out for as the Riders meet the Rocks for the third time this season.
The Riders have had the better of the previous meetings
The Glasgow Rocks have arguably been the most favourable matchup of the season so far for the Riders who have comfortably beaten the Rocks on the 2 occasions they’ve met this season. The Riders first defeated the Rocks on October 20th up in Glasgow when the 2 teams met up in Glasgow on a night which saw the Riders win 88-66 on the Road. The 2 teams then met again on November 8th when the Riders won once again in impressive fashion coming out on top 93-58. Now that the BBL Championship has started it will be very interesting to see how the 2 teams adjust in their third match up of the season.
Rocks Roster Changes
Since the Rocks and Riders last did battle the Rocks Head Coach Vincent Lavandier has made two new additions to the roster. Newly recruited Americans Donte Thorpe and Terrell Vinson have already made a positive impression on the Rocks roster helping them to a 2 and 1 start to the BBL Championship Campaign whilst both putting in impressive performances. A challenge for the Riders on the 27th is how well they manage to contain the Rocks two new recruits.
Time to Bounce Back
The last time out the Leicester Riders unfortunately fell to the Cheshire Phoenix 91-95 in a tricky second game of a back to back that went to overtime. Coach Paternostro admitted that it was 5 minutes too many for a Riders team that are carrying a few injuries and niggles. After 2 weeks without a game a refreshed Riders squad will be looking to bounce back and make a strong finish to 2019 in the BBL Championship.
