Leicester Riders have signed American forward Taylor King as the BBL Season gets set to begin!
Taylor King joins following a season in the Lithuanian Basketball League with BC Nevezis where he averaged 10 points and and over six rebounds in the Lithuanian and Baltic League.
The 28-year-old, 6ft 7in guard/forward has previously played at Villanova University where he averaged 7.3 points and 5.3 rebounds game.
Two seasons King finish second in the BBL in scoring with over 19 points a game, whilst also grabbed an average of more than nine rebounds a game. First in the BBL that season was new team-mate Pierre Hampton.
Riders head coach Rob Paternostro said: “Taylor is a guy who we looked at in the summer, but understood he was going back to Europe.
“I like the way he played in the BBL last time and he can be explosive offensively.
“But he is also very experienced, and having that background should be a very good fit with our group.
“He also indicated very strongly he was very keen on joining our programme in spite of our options, so that is always a good thing.
“I think he is going to add to our versatility and options, particularly on the offensive end.”
To make way for King, Riders have released new signing Donovan Jack.
It is anticipated that King should get all the necessary clearances in time to suit up for Riders in the BBL opener this Friday night at Sheffield Sharks, and for Riders home opener at the Leicester Sports Arena on Sunday at 4.00pm against Worcester Wolves.
