Leicester Riders have signed British 6’10” Forward Chris Tawiah from BK Lions Jindrichuv Hradec in the Czech Republic.
Leicester Riders have added to their front court for the remainder of the BBL season adding second year British pro Chris Tawiah providing a different dynamic and additional size inside with multiple players eligible for Commonwealth Games Team England selections due in the coming days.
Tawiah players basketball in the UK before attending Frank Phillips, Iowa Central Community College and then Wiley College. Chris Tawiah then headed to the Czech Republic to begin his pro career and mid-way through his second season with BK Lions Jindrichuv Hradec was averaging 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per outing.
The 24-year old big is looking forwards to getting his time at the Riders started.
“I’m really grateful, excited and motivated to have joined the Riders. The teams reputation speaks for itself. The team is playing at a high level and it’s my duty as a player to come in and match that right from the jump.
“The fans can expect to see a hardworking active big man who is very enthusiastic about being a Rider from now till the last game of the season.”
Tawiah joined the Riders in practice in the build up to the BBL Trophy as both parties worked to agree terms that will see the Milton Keynes native finish the season with the Riders.
