Leicester Riders Women are through to the semi-finals of the WBBL Playoffs after a comfortable 85-69 win over Newcastle Eagles.
Second place Riders used a strong start to the game to build a 28-8 first quarter lead, as they dominated the Eagles, who finished seventh.
The Eagles came back strongly in the second period, to close the gap to 46-32 at halftime.
The Eagles got the gap down to just ten points early in the third quarter, but sparked by Holly Winterburn, Riders pulled away again.
Riders shot the ball much better at 49% efficiency from the floor, compared to 31% for the Eagles.
Riders Australian centre Kate Oliver claimed a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, as did Mollie Campbell with 10 points and 10 boards.
Winterburn was typically influential as the game’s top scorer with 22 points, and she added 6 assists.
American Brea Elmore added 12 points.
Riders will now host Sheffield Hatters in the semi-final for the right to secure a return to the Playoff Final, scheduled for the O2 Arena on 19th May.
