Leicester Riders Women will host Barking Abbey Crusaders as part of their pre-season preparations this weekend alongside the Riders European Tournament at Loughborough University.

This marks the fourth time that the London based academy side has travelled to play the Loughborough based team and all games prove to be great competition ahead of the start of the season.

Head Coach Matthew Harber is looking forward to the game on Saturday.

“I’m very pleased that Barking have accepted our invitation to come and play us during this weekend and I’m confident this will act as a key part of our preparation for the upcoming WBBL season. I’m very happy to continue developing a good working relationship with the UK’s RIB as I hope our programme can continue to offer strong Higher Education options for British players graduating from Barking and other established basketball institutes.”

Barking Abbey Crusaders Head Coach Mark Clark is pleased to visit Loughborough for the preseason fixture.

“We are pleased to come up to the Riders’ pre-season again. It has over the last three years become a key part of our preparation. We should have everyone with us by the 20th so playing the defending Champions will be a great test.”

The WBBL season opens on October 11th and 12th with Loughborough University hosting all 10 teams in the league.
