Leicester Riders Women grabbed their second win of the season on the road to Leeds Beckett University, 86-40 in the WBBL this evening.
Eleanor Jones opened the game with a great two-points shot after a slow start for Riders. Although the team had problems in offence they have managed to close the first quarter with 21-10 lead. In the next ten minutes Riders improved their performance both in defence and offence after really good shooting by Georgia Elliot-King.
Having extended the gap to 18 points at the halftime break (40-22), Leicester started the third quarter with a 12-0 spurt to increase the gap to 52-22. Riders women controlled the game defensively till the end and added 86-40 win to their account.
Georgia Elliot-King finished with 23 points whilst Maaja Bratka had another great game and added 12 points.
Head Coach Matthew Harber was pleased with his group,
“It’s really pleasing to have got our second WBBL win on the road in Leeds. Every day we’re working to be better, whether that is in practice or in the games. We still have a number of consistency issues that are apparent during games, but I’m confident in our group to improve.
I thought Jess Davies was very good tonight, demonstrating a real active presence on the glass as well as offering us scoring options.“
