Leicester Riders are now just one result away from defending their BBL Championship title after beating DBL Sharks Sheffield 80-71.
Rob Paternostro’s side will now have the chance to win the title next Friday when they host Plymouth Raiders at Leicester Arena.
Pierre Hampton led the way with 17 points, while Taylor King added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds as the Riders once again had a number of key contributions.
After an even start, the Sharks edged ahead through a three from Rashawn Rembert to lead 20-22 after 10 minutes. Another even period ensued, though this time it was Leicester who finished strong to lead by four at the break.
A string of triples opened up a double-digit lead for the Riders in the third and they needed a 6-2 start to the fourth to restore an 11-point advantage.
Malcolm Riley netted twice from downtown to bring the Sharks back within five, only for Shane Walker and Tyler Bernardini to respond in kind as the Riders produced a late surge to seal the win.
