In the first of two long-distance road trips to close 2013, Leicester Riders head to the Pavillions to take on Plymouth Raiders on Sunday afternoon in the BBL Championship; a game which will be televised live on BBL TV.

Having faced the Raiders twice in quick succession in BBL Cup competition, Riders head coach Rob Paternostro believes that both sides will know all there is about their opposition.

“They’re a talented team,” Paternostro told the Riders Official Website.

“They are a team that can go on runs, so I think that it’s important that we don’t allow them any easy baskets. If you give them easy opportunities, that’s when they can capitalise. Having just played them twice, I think that familiarity is there for both teams.

“Whenever you play a team as much as we have played Plymouth in recent weeks, I think that players should be very familiar with the other team’s line-up. Our players are always trying to learn about their opponent and I think that these two teams will be very familiar with each other.”

“Over the last five games offensively, we have found a nice rhythm” – Rob Paternostro

Riders head into the game against the Raiders, and the following weekend’s trip to Glasgow Rocks, off the back of wins over London Lions and Surrey United, whilst reaching the BBL Cup Final in January presents another boost in confidence. As the season progresses, Rob has been left pleased with the way his side is continuing to improve, particularly on offense.

“We feel that, over the last five games offensively, we have found a nice rhythm,” he said.

“All of the guys that have been playing have been moving the basketball very well. The guys are getting a lot more comfortable playing with each other. What has been nice over the last few weeks is that we have seen guys improving.

“We have a young team. Outside of Drew (Sullivan) and Barry (Lamble), the rest of the guys are very young and a lot of them are still developing. It’s been nice to see that on the offensive end over the last few weeks.”
