The Women’s Riders travel to Nottingham this weekend as them attempt to continue their unbeaten start to WBBL action.
Nottingham Head Coach Dave Greenaway produced a strong recruiting summer and as such Nottingham have started the league well, recording wins over new side Leeds Beckett University as well as powerhouse Sheffield Hatters.
The Leicester Riders Women will be looking to bounce back from a loss in the National Cup last weekend and aim to return to form against the local opposition.
Head Coach Matthew Harber spoke ahead of the weekend, recognising the challenge ahead and is looking forward to tomorrow’s game.
“Nottingham are an interesting team and have some real standout players. I really like how Francis Donders plays – she offers their team stability and leadership and can get the ball in areas of the floor for them to operate.
“They have multiple scoring threats across multiple positions and they shoot the ball really well. Carmen Reynolds of course is their x-factor and she is a tough match-up for any team given her versatility to play inside and out.
“This weekend will no doubt be our toughest test to date. Nottingham have started the year really well as expected and are going to be a force to be reckoned with all year.
“There is no denying that the disappointment from last weekend’s cup loss still remains in our team, but the team have responded really well this week and we’re still making progress in becoming better as a team.
“This weekend’s game against Nottingham will really give us a good indicator of where we’re at.”
The Riders tip off against the Wildcats at 16.30 tomorrow at the Wildcats Arena in Nottingham.
