Leicester Riders Women will travel to Brixton tomorrow to continue the WBBL Championship.
The Riders sit middle of the WBBL table with a single win over Manchester Mystics following tough losses at the opening weekend in Loughborough to begin the season. The team travel in search of their second win of season ahead of the international break.
Head Coach Matthew Harber is excited to have the team back on the court following a week off games in the schedule.
“Given that the schedule has been so start and stop in these opening few weeks, it’s been difficult to establish much rhythm in WBBL league play.
However, practices have been going well and we’re getting better each time we step on the floor.
We’ll need to play very well on Sunday to walk out of the Rec with a win. That Topcats team are hungry for their first win and Coach Vear always prepares very well. I’m excited for the game!”
The game will see two new faces enter the Riders roster for the first time. Charnwood College’s Harriet Swindles and U16 rising star Holly Winterburn enter the roster for the game and Coach Harber is pleased to see the young players make the move.
“This weekend we will see the debut of junior players Harriet Swindells and Holly Winterburn – two players who have demonstrated a real aptitude for basketball at this level.”
Riders Women return to action on November 28th following the international break as they take on Team Northumbria in the WBBL Trophy.
