The Leicester Riders’ BBL continues to grow as Shane Walker re-signs following his first season with the Riders last year.
Shane Walker will remain with the Leicester Riders next season after signing a new deal with the club this summer and re-joining familiar faces Drew Sullivan, Tyler Bernardini, Conner Washington and others in the line-up for next year.
Walker, originally from Northampton, joined the Riders early in the season as a great force off the bench throughout the year. The versatile 6’10” forward continues to produce averaging 6.4 points and four rebounds per game over his first season with the club.
Head Coach Rob Paternostro is pleased with the signing and looking forward to working with Walker in the upcoming season.
“We are delighted to have Shane back.” Paternostro began. “He fit in very well with our club both on and off the floor last season and is a very talented player.
“His defense, rebounding, athleticism, and variety of skills were extremely valuable to our success in 2015-16 and at 6’10” he is very mobile being able to play in multiple spots on both ends of the floor.
“He can make the 3 and has shown an excellent ability to rebound the ball both offensively and defensively. I am really looking forward to working with him again.”
Walker will join the rest of the Leicester Riders roster on court in preseason preparations as the team get set to take on Rio Natura Monbus and Crelan Okapi Aalstar in the R3 Tournament in September.
