Leicester Riders set up a BBL Trophy Final clash with Esh Group Eagles Newcastle after beating Sheffield Sharks 74-70 on the road in the second leg of the Semi-Final.
After a strong start to open up a double-digit advantage, and held off a late fightback from Sheffield to secure the win with an overall 153-149 aggregate victory.
Neil Watson finished with a team-high 18 points that included three triples, while TrayVonn Wright added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Tyler Bernardini and Drew Sullivan also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.
After a cagey opening, the Riders put together a timely 12-4 close to the opening period to lead by 10, and that would remain the differential at the half-time break.
Kyle Odister netted two triples in the third as the Sharks began to chip away at the deficit, only for Leicester to pull away and establish a lead as large as 16 points.
Sheffield then closed to within six early on in the fourth, but Watson went back-to-back from 3-point range to keep the home side at bay, and they would withstand a late 3-point barrage to close out the win from the line.
Jerrold Brooks led the Sharks with 23 points and five assists, but it was not enough to prevent their run in the competition from ending after a thrilling two-legged tie.
Riders fans ticket information will released tomorrow, February 18th ahead of sale.
