Leicester Riders hit the road this weekend in the BBL, travelling to Birmingham Knights on Saturday night before travelling to Cheshire Phoenix on Sunday .
Next Riders travel to Cheshire, where locking down Victor Moses will high on the priorities of the Riders team.
Moses leads the league in both points (24.5) and rebounds (14.0) per game but will come up against the BBL’s best defence as fourth take on sixth at Northgate Arena.
But despite possessing some of the league’s best individual defensive talent, Anthony Downing revealed it will take the team as a collective to cover Phoenix’s hot scorer.
“With a player like Victor, we have to play defence as a team on him and not rely on just one person to guard him. It has to be a team effort,” said Downing.
“The impact he has is just that we, as a team, have to know where he is at all times on the court.
“But besides that there are no special preparations. We will go over our scouting report and use that to our advantage.”
Riders will also have confidence and momentum working in their favour after they managed to recover from back-to-back defeats to Esh Group Eagles Newcastle with two victories last weekend.
“It was a good weekend for us, picking up two wins in a week after a heart-breaking last few games,” Downing added.
“The team’s attitude is great and really positive. We are looking forward to getting on a winning streak and finishing the regular season strong to prepare us for a Play-off run.
“It will be a good game and a rough win to get a win against a good team on their home court.”
Riders return to the John Sandford on Saturday 5th April to face the Glasgow Rocks.
