Riders Move on to Semi-Finals in the WBBL

Leicester Riders survived a fourth quarter fightback from Caledonia Pride to advance to the Semi-Finals.

The visitors – in their first post-season campaign – battled back to tie the game in the final period but came up short of an upset.

Leading scorers – Hayward 17, McGarrachan 13, Oliver 12 (Riders) – Reynolds 19, Lewis 10, Thomson 9 (Pride)

Turning point – Leicester led by 16 at the half after a strong start, but saw their advantage wiped out by a 15-0 run from Pride in the fourth to level at 56-56. However, Erin McGarrachan responded with a personal 6-0 run and Dee Hayward hit a huge three to help close out the win.

Key stat – The home side shared the ball well with 25 assists, while Caledonia gave up 17 turnovers in the contest, despite making a late charge.

Game hero(es) – Dee Hayward top scored with 17 points in the win on 8 of 12 shooting, while Erin McGarrachan scored 8 of her 13 points in the fourth and added 10 rebounds for a double-double.
