Riders finished pre-season action with 54-75 victory over the Worcester Wolves this weekend to go 3-0 in preparation games ahead of taking on the Sheffield Sharks this Friday at home in the BBL Cup.
After an even start, the Riders exploded to a 9-24 lead after the first quarter, keeping the home side scoreless in the final 6 minutes of the first period as Namon Wright continued to show his scoring ability for Leicester.
The home side rallied behind the guard play of Edwards and heady scoring of former Riders forward Raheem May-Thompson to cut the lead to eight by the half but the second half saw Leicester outlast the home side and extend to a strong victory in the first road action of the year.
Leicester Riders were led by Namon Wright with 25 points and he was backed up by Loughborough’s Jonas Dieterich as the only other Riders in double-figures, shooting 5/5 for 13 points, in a balanced scoring game for the visitors.
Josh Ward-Hibbert continued to show his value, pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with 7 points on the night.
The Riders now take aim at the start of the season, with Sheffield Sharks coming to the Morningside Arena on Friday 20th September before then traveling to face the Cheshire Phoenix on the road on Sunday 22nd September
