Leicester Riders game against the Sheffield Sharks was called off after the first quarter due to the court not being safe to play on.

Despite the surface being deemed safe by officials prior to the game the first quarter of action was distracted by multiple players from both teams slipping on the surface, slips that saw Kyron Cartwright leave the game with an apparent groin injury, Namon Wright suffered a hamstring injury but continued to play and Jamell Anderson suffered a hip impingement.

The game continued despite the injuries and slipping of players until the end of the first quarter before the game officials called the game off due to unsafe playing surface.

Players will be assessed with hope of returning to practice this week ahead of Friday’s Cup Semi-Final second leg against the Worcester Wolves.

The Riders will await further details on the outcome of the game from league officials.
