Leicester Riders have moved to sign Swedish forward Alex Larsson ahead of the British Basketball League and Basketball Champions League seasons as the roster develops.
Swedish native Alex Larrson joins the Leicester Riders for the 2018/19 season out of UC Riverside following four positive years playing in the US.
Larsson averaged 9.8 points per game in his senior season, starting for the Highlanders the majority of his collegiate carrier in the Big West Conference.
The 6-10, 22-year old forward also represented Sweden at the FIBA U18 and U20 European Championships.
Head Coach Rob Paternostro is pleased with the new addition to the roster.
“Alex had a good four years at Riverside, he started 114 out of 120 games played and was a player who showed great improvement which resulted in him receiving honourable mention All-Big West his senior year.
“He is a big man who does a good job on the glass and is able to use his body to carve space out around the basket. He has shown the ability to score out of the post and defend his position which we feel will be really beneficial to our team this season.
“We are expecting him to come in a provide a physical presence on the floor, and to be a guy that is difficult to play against.”
Larsson will see his first action with the Riders on the road in Belgium before taking the floor at the Morningside Arena in Leicester on August 31st against the USA Select.
