Leicester is set to welcome the Riders home, as they prepare to take on the London Lions this Friday. This comes after a long stretch of away games, that hasn’t seen them play at home for almost a month.

Both teams come into the game off the back of impressive stretches that has seen multiple wins, as they both look to apply added pressure to Newcastle after their defeat last weekend.

The Riders themselves are on a current win streak that is up to four after last Friday’s win against the Bristol Flyers which sees them close the gap on leaders Newcastle to four points with games to play.

After falling to the London Lions earlier in the season in the BBL Cup. Pierre Hampton believes it just adds for fuel to the fire in terms of motivation: “The game was really early in the season and we didn’t account ourselves out there to the best of our ability. But this time hopefully, we can execute and clean up a lot of stuff to get that all important win tomorrow”.

Since the defeat, however, the team has seen been on fire and hasn’t looked back. With the team returning home after a long away stretch Coach Rob Paternostro has said it’s more important than ever to try and keep this momentum going: “We have been playing some really good basketball on both ends of the court. With guys playing in rhythm and more importantly for one and other.”

“We have a strong desire to win and we like where we are heading. But it’s important for us to keep getting better and improve on what we haven’t yet improved on and we have an opportunity to showcase that in front of our own fans this Friday”.

With the busy schedule just beginning, the team must prepare for the relentless grind that will have major implications on playoff seeding’s come the end of the season and Coach Paternostro believes his squad is ready for the challenge: “We had a lot of time off recently, with only one game weekends. We had to appreciate those, because we now know what’s coming.”

The team will hope to have their winning streak still intact, with arguably the biggest game of the season just around the corner. As the Riders take the long trip up north to face there rivals Newcastle Eagles on the December the 15th.
