Leicester Riders get the defence of the BBL Championship title underway this weekend with a re-run of the BBL Play-Off Final to tip things off.
Riders travel to Sheffield on Friday before a home opener with Worcester at the Leicester Sports Arena, as the campaign begins with battles against the sides who finished third and fourth in the league last season.
Both teams, though, look considerably different to the ones Riders faced last season. Sheffield, who beat Leicester in the final at the O2 in May, no longer have the likes of Jerrold Brooks and TJ Robinson to call on.
Veteran Mike Tuck, whose 20 points and 13 rebounds earned him MVP honours in the final, is back to lead the Sharks once again along with Kyle Odister and Zach Gachette, who returns to Sheffield after a spell in London with the Lions.
Two new overseas players, Shaheed and Jordan Davis, join the BBL for the first time, but Coach Atiba Lyons still has one more slot to fill after releasing summer signing Marquis Mathis last week.
Colin Sing who was a regular starter before injury towards the end of the season is back to fitness, whilst the bench has familiar faces too in the Brownell brothers and Marko Backovic.
Like the Sharks, Wolves have plenty of new faces in the line-up following a summer of wholesale changes, including the departure of former Riders Jay Couisnard and Pavol Losonsky.
Marek Klassen, who was a driving force in Leeds play-off push towards the end of the last campaign, has joined Paul James squad, as has former Plymouth and Surrey shooter Trevor Setty and ex-Glasgow and Cheshire guard Danny Huffor.
With that BBL experience and a few new faces, the Wolves have looked impressive in the pre-season, with an 82-67 victory over the Sharks in which five players managed to get into double-figures followed by a 20-point win in Bristol.
