Leicester Riders Women will host Team Northumbria on Saturday at Loughborough University as they kick off 2017 in the WBBL.
The Leicester Riders will re-enter the second part of the season with a 7-2 record in third place in the WBBL Championship and a narrow loss in the WBBL Cup Semi-Final. The team will host an talented Team Northumbria side searching for consistency this season that they were able to overcome on the road before the Christmas break.
Head Coach Matthew Harber checked in ahead of Saturday’s WBBL action against Team Northumbria at Loughborough University.
“I think the Christmas break came at a good time for us,” commented Harber. “We were able to make a positive finish to 2016 having won our last two league games on the road against Caledonia and Northumbria.
“Now we’re back on the floor and getting re-focused for the second half of the season. It will be good to get back into a rhythm of games right away and Northumbria at home this Saturday is going to be tough.
“Our 15 point margin against them back on December 18th doesn’t reflect the competitiveness of the game. Northumbria are a really talented team with quality in every position. I believe will need to defend consistently to win the game and allow our offence to stem from our defensive efforts.”
The Riders will take the floor at 6pm on Saturday at Loughborough University’s Netball Centre and tickets will be available on the door for just £3 for Adults and £1 for Students and Children.
