The reigning Molten BBL Coach of the Year Rob Paternostro has picked up where he left off last season by scooping the first monthly gong of the new campaign.
Since the start of the 2016-17 season in late September, the play-caller has guided Leicester Riders to a terrific unbeaten 8-0 start in the BBL Championship – something which has clearly underlined the Riders’ pre-season billing as the frontrunner for silverware on all fronts.
Most impressively, Paternostro has masterminded five road wins for his team during the period, having initially tipped-off with an eye-catching 83-54 triumph at DBL Sharks Sheffield in a repeat of last year’s Molten BBL Play-Off Final at The 02.
A 77-66 win against Worcester Wolves opened up Riders’ account on their own floor and that came prior to collecting a win-double against Surrey Scorchers – although Paternostro and his team had to sweat to escape with an overtime victory in one of those match-ups.
Riders then breezed to a rampant 103-39 success against Leeds Force, which was the first of three straight wins away from home, as they also took care of Cheshire Phoenix and Bristol Flyers by 10-point margins.
The flawless start to the season and an eighth straight win was then wrapped up by Paternostro and his players via another comfortable triumph against Leeds.
