Loughborough Riders Women took home a good win over Team Northumbria earlier today in the WNBL, winning 69-62 at the John Sandford Centre.
Maaja Bratka led the scoring for Loughborough with 15 points, whilst Amber Kirschbaum added 14 and Jordan Elliott-King scored 11. Mackenzie Westcott scored 8 points to go along with a game high 13 rebounds.
Head Coach Matthew Harber was pleased to pick up a victory to begin the double-header weekend
“Today was a solid win for us and we set out to achieve some specific tasks. I felt we did that. We’re still trying to establish more fluidity at the offensive end – I’m confident that will come with time.”
Georgia Jones was pleased to pick up the victory.
“Really happy that we got the win! It was a really physical game but we stepped up to match their physical which is something we have not done in other games. Now, we prepare ourselves for Barking Abbey tomorrow which is sure to be another tough game.”
