Leicester native Krumesh Patel will step up to the role of WBBL Head Coach next season for the Riders, alongside his role as Head of the Charnwood College Women’s Programme.

Patel enters his fifth season involved with the Riders following tremendous grow and success of the Charnwood College Women’s programme over the past three seasons, including multiple finals appearances and titles – whilst also assisting at the WBBL level throughout the Riders time in the league.

“I am excited to take the reigns of our WBBL team next season,” commented Coach Patel.

“It has been a great experience to work alongside Matt [Harber] over the last few season as our programme has continued to move forwards.

“We have an excellent staff and exciting players to work with so I am looking forward to continuing the progress of recent seasons and helping the club by leading team next season.”

Patel will continue with the role of Charnwood College play-caller, alongside his new WBBL responsibilities with additional coaches being sourced to expand the coaching staff next season.

Managing Director Russell Levenston commented on the recent appointment by adding: “We are very excited to have Krumesh [Patel] step into the role of WBBL Head Coach next season.

“His time with the Women’s programme has seen it continue to get better and better. His work alongside Matthew Harber will no doubt allow a seamless transition period this month ahead of the pre-season starting in September.”
