Leicester Riders started pre-season action with a positive 83-69 victory over Nässjö Basket at the Morningside Arena, Leicester.
Riders began the game on the back foot as former Loughborough Riders guard Lucien Christofis showed his shooting ability to get the visitors going and out to a 4-12 lead in the opening minutes before Riders settled into the flow of the game behind a three of there own from the hands of new signing Joe Scott.
The second quarter saw the Riders continue to battle to find their flow on only the first ten minutes of action of the season. Franklyn Williams Jr and Nick Russell kept the visitors in front late in the third quarter as the Riders began to find flow and the visitors tire.
Captain Andy Thomson dialled in from deep and launched an attack that saw the Riders defence lock in and take command of the game behind Ward-Hibbert, Wright, Anderson and Loughborough’s Jonas Dieterich, seeing out the game for the win.
Riders Namon Wright led the scoring for the Riders with 21 points in his professional debut with 21 points whilst Josh Ward-Hibbert poured in 17 points whilst grabbing 10 rebounds and Jamell Anderson added 15 points and 11 rebounds.
