The Leicester Riders are pleased to announce that Lauren Delany will join the club as Head of Performance Nutrition for the 2013/2014 season.
Lauren joins the Leicester Riders to offer her expertise in the field to closely monitor the professional athletes’ nutrition alongside improving the knowledge of players within the elite development programme. The Riders organisation hopes that this is the first step to developing a more sustainable nutrition programme within the club.
Operations Manager Joe Pinchin is delighted by the addition of Delany for the upcoming season.
“It is a pleasure to add Lauren [Delany] to our staff for the upcoming season. We continue to grow as a programme and as we do it is so important that we continue to build our provision in all areas, no just on the court. I’ve no doubt she will do an incredible job in better educating all of our players on their nutrition and how they can better their performance through it. Hopefully this is the first step in developing a more comprehensive nutrition programme within our club.”
Lauren, a recent Loughborough University postgraduate student, will continue her work with Leicester Tigers Academy as she moves back into working with her own sport. Lauren featured in the Meteors Irish Superleague team before heading to Loughborough University and is now keen to get back to working within basketball.
“I’m delighted to be given this opportunity to join such a thriving and successful basketball programme,” said Lauren.
“I look forward to the challenge of working with all levels of athletes and hope to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for sports nutrition. My goal for the upcoming season is to establish a nutrition education programme that will benefit not only each individual athlete but also contribute to the long term performance of the program moving forward.”
