John Stewart to represent Great Britain U20 Men

John Stewart has been named to the Great Britain U20 Men’s roster for the 2013 FIBA European Championship.

Loughborough University scholar, John Stewart, will represent Great Britain for a second consecutive year following a great season with the Loughborough Student Riders where he averaged 17.2 pts, 6.2 tbs and 2 assists per game. Stewart also stepped up to represented the Leicester Riders in the BBL a number of times throughout the season.GB-Belgium-040

John solidified his place in the squad  in preparation games in the UK, Finland and Portugal, logging heavy minutes and producing solid stat lines whilst the team remained undefeated in preparation play.

Stewart commented, “Camp was intense! Everyone has bonded well both on and off the court and we’ve played hard and together in both Finland and Portugal. This has showed in achieving a perfect record in preparation games”

Operations Manager Joe Pinchin was delighted to see Stewart named in the U20 Men’s roster.

“It is great to see John named to the squad that will compete in Romania. John is the third player within our programme to have the opportunity to represent GB this summer and I wish them all the best of luck in their respective Championships.”

Great Britain Under 20s will begin their tournament on July 12th when they take on the Slovak Republic in Romania.
