The Leicester Riders U12s boys team will be in action this weekend in the U13 Youth Basketball League Play-off finals in Birmingham. The final game of the season for all Junior programs is an important one as the U12s attempt to win the first piece of silverware for the young JNBL program.

A fantastic run the team this year saw them collect the U13 YBL North Conference title, win vital head-to-heads throughout the season and claim a City of Birmingham scalp in the semi-final of play-offs. The closely contested semi-final fixture went right down to the wire with only 2 free throws, scored by Sean Chitakunye, separating the two junior heavyweights.

The team head down on Saturday to Nechelles Sports Centre in Birmingham for the Play-off final against the Frankly Falcons. The young riders have previously overturned this team in a friendly fixture this season but will be not blinded by their previous fixture, Coach Steve Farrington explains; “It is really important for our boys to compete at a standard that we have set. I have loved coaching the team this year and I am so proud of the group no matter the result this weekend. We will definitely throw everything we have at the Falcons and hope our players learn a lot from the experience.”
