Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby has been named in the Great Britain Senior National Team roster for training camp that begins this weekend.
The announcement comes just weeks after the 17 year-old completed her second season with the Loughborough Student Riders, playing a key role in the team’s fourth place finish in their first year in EBL Division One, whilst continuing to study at Charnwood College within the Leicester Riders AASE Academy.
Head Coach, Matthew Harber is very pleased to see Harriet named in the senior roster.
“Harriet’s announcement on the preliminary senior roster caught us all off guard initially, but everyone was so excited for her.
“Harriet’s announcement on the preliminary senior roster caught us all off guard initially, but everyone was so excited for her.”
The announcement is an indicator of Harriet’s maturation as a player and as an athlete and I will be intrigued to see how she copes in a senior National Team environment. I’m very proud of Harriet and this is just another part of her journey that will help to shape her for the future.”
Harriet joins other experienced Great Britain players and Olympians such as Stef Collins and Dominique Allen as the team prepares for FIBA Eurobasket Women which takes place in France this summer. Great Britain will face hosts France as well as Serbia and Latvia in the group phase of the competition and Ottewill-Soulsby is looking forward to challenging and an exciting summer.
“Playing Division One this season has built confidence, and, of course, playing day-in day-out against team mates like Maaja Bratka, who is an Estonian International, has been a great learning experience. I just want to continue to learn.”
