Georgia Jones will continue as a Leicester Rider next season, alongside her postgraduate studies at Loughborough University.
Georgia helped lead the Riders Women to the National Championship last season, grabbing the Finals MVP along the way with a 19 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals performance.
“I’m sure she will be ready to hit the ground running” – Coach Harber
Georgia is looking forward to getting back on the court and working hard to continue to build upon the success of last season.
“I am really looking forward to next year. After such a great finish to last season with winning the WNBL Playoff Championship, I know personally I can’t wait to get back on the floor and build on that success. As a team we will be going into next season with a target on our back, we will be the team to beat and I’m ready for that challenge.
“I think the introduction of the WBBL will help bring more fans, as well as provide a certain degree of professionalism which is what currently separates us from other European leagues. It is definitely a much needed step in the right direction for women’s basketball in Britain.
“I know personally I can’t wait to get back on the floor and build on that success” – Jones on upcoming season
“Off the floor, I am looking forward to continuing studying for my masters in sport management. Being part time, I was able to balance my focus between my course and basketball, something I will be aiming to achieve again this year.”
Coach Matthew Harber is pleased to work with Georgia in the upcoming season.
“I’m really glad we will continue to support Georgia for 2014-15 and build on her from last season. I know Georgia has a lot of ambitions for this season and I’m sure she will be ready to hit the ground running come the start of the season.”
