The Leicester Riders WBBL team are looking to make an impact with new signing Tori Faieta for the 2015-16 season.
The 6’2” centre, graduated in May after an impressive college career at Stonehill College in Massachusetts. Faieta averaged 15.4 points (49.9% FG%), a team-high 10.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and a team-best 3.2 blocked shots in 25.5 minutes per game.
During her time at Stonehill, Faieta became the 27th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points when she netted a career-high 27 points against Caldwell.
Faieta’s accolades include WBCA Division II Coaches’ All-American, All-Northeast-10 Conference first team, and NCAA II East Regional All-Tournament.
Along with her numerous awards from College, Faieta is also a member of the 2015 USA Deaf Olympic Team who competed in Taiwan for the Olympic qualifiers this past July.
Head Coach, Matthew Harber, is thrilled with his latest signing and believes Tori will bring energy to the Riders both on and off the floor.
“Here at the Riders we believe in recruiting good people to be part of our organisation, and Tori is a perfect example of just that.” – Harber on recruiting Faieta.
“From the first moment we spoke, I knew that Tori was right for our programme, because I found her energy infectious and Coach Brown from Stonehill assured me that was something Tori translates onto the floor. She is a very humble person and is a team-orientated individual who does what it takes to win.
Tori has a great feel for the game and her skill-set, combined with her physique is hard to come by. Her All-American honours this year at Stonehill are an indicator of what she is capable of. I’m excited to see what she will achieve this season in the WBBL.”
Come down to support Faieta and the Riders Women as they open their season with a double-header on the 17th and 18th of October, at Loughborough University.
