Charnwood College Students Eleanor Jones, Georgia Elliott-King, Rebecca Taylor, Heidi Tranter and Jess Davies will all feature in the WBBL this season as the Leicester Riders Women look to their youth for production off the bench.
Head Coach Matthew Harber named all five students in his initial WBBL roster of 14 player, all of which have featured in the league already in their opening games.
Coach Harber is pleased to have the the young girls involved in the squad for the year and will be looking to them for major contributions as the season progresses.
“I’m really excited by the inclusion of our Charnwood AASE academy players into our senior WBBL roster for this season. Each of the four girls have shown all the right signs in taking the next step in becoming a successful senior player. I can assure everybody that these girls will play an immediate role on the team and are ready to contribute significantly from the get go.
I think it’s great that they were able to partake in the first ever WBBL season launch and I hope this experience will continue to demonstrate to others that our domestic league can provide a strong developmental environment for our British National Team players.”
The Leicester Riders Women take on Oaklands in the opening round of the National Cup this weekend on Sunday at the Loughborough University Netball Centre.
