Charnwood College Riders, part of the David Ross Education Trust and Leicester Riders Pathway, will travel to take on the world’s best in Belgrade, Serbia at the International School Sports Federation 3×3 Championships from 24th-29th June.
Charnwood College Riders took victory this year in the WEABL and EABL 3×3 Championships in preparation for the World School Championship later this month in Serbia.
It will be the first time that the Charnwood College Boys will be apart of the competition, the Women however took third place in the competition two seasons ago in Tallin, Estonia and also competed in the World 5v5 Championships last summer.
Head Coach Krumesh Patel is looking forward to the event.
“To attend the ISF World 3×3 championships back to back is an incredible achievement,” commented Coach Patel, heading to his third World Championships with Charnwood College Riders.
“The last time the group did incredible in Estonia by finishing 3rd in the world and the recent group are coming off being WEABL National 3×3 champions so we are excited to test ourselves against the world once again.
“The event is really well organised, and the addition of culture day makes it a great experience to learn from and about other countries. No doubt will be another great experience for the program.”
Head Coach Will Maynard is pleased for the boys first appearance in the competition.
“It’s a great opportunity for the boys to be involved in the World Championship 3v3 tournament.
“It’s a real eye opener for players to be able to compete in a different country and playing in a different style than there normally used to. Not many players have this opportunity which allows them to travel the world so they should embrace it with open arms and make the most of the situation”
