Three Charnwood College students and Leicester Riders Academy players have been selected to attend the first Great Britain U18 training camp this weekend at the Leicester Arena.
Kieran Horrigan (Wales), Sesan Russell (England) and Romario Spence (England) will all attend the inaugural Great Britain training camp in hope of being selected to play for Great Britain U18 at this summer’s U18 European Championships Division B.
This is the first year that Great Britain will enter teams in European Competition at U16 and U18 level, having previously played as England, Scotland and Wales respectively.
Kieran Horrigan who has previously represented Wales at U16 & U18 level is excited for this weekend’s camp “It is an honour to be selected to attend the GB Camp this weekend. I want to thank all of the people who have helped me this year and in my basketball career. I’m excited to see how this weekend goes.”
Sesan Russell commented; “Without question I am honoured and proud for achieving a nomination for GB U18’s. I am in the mix with an amazing set of players , but I am willing to put the work in and I hope my best will be good enough to make the final selection for the European Championships. Go GB!”
Romario Spence who represented England U18 at last summer’s Europeans is relishing the opportunity “It’s a great honour to be invited to GB Camp. I have gained knowledge from the coaching staff and played alongside some of the best talent in England. I am very proud of this achievement and I am extremely excited for this opportunity.”

The U18 European Championships will take place in Tallinn, Estonia from the 28th July – 6th August. Great Britain have been drawn in Group A with Czech Republic, Sweden, Albania, Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
