The Leicester Riders Pathway programme have had four of their players selected amongst the best junior basketball players in the country as they take part in a one-day showcase of British basketball talent.
The Hoopsfix All Star Classic returns after a year hiatus and is organised by British basketball website Hoopsfix.com as all proceeds go towards the Hoopsfix Foundation – a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to helping grow the game of basketball in the UK which funds the event.
Charnwood College Students and Loughborough Student Riders players Sesan Russell and Morgan Carter will feature in the Class of 2018 game, while Hosana Kitenge and Leicester’s own Niall Harris will both compete in the Underclassmen game for players returning to programmes next season.
The quartet will join the rest of Britain’s best juniors on court at Brixton Recreation Centre in South London, on Saturday, June 2nd.
“I feel excited and ready to go,” said Russell.
“This event gives us all the opportunity to have fun whilst showcasing our skills.”
Kitenge added: “It’s always an honour to be selected for events like this and I really am fortunate to be selected as one of the best players in the class.”
Sam Neter, owner of Hoopsfix.com, added: “We’re so happy to be bringing back the event after a year hiatus.
“The Hoopsfix All-Star Classic serves as not only a bringing together of the top junior talent in the country, but the entire community. I’m personally excited to see the level of talent that will be on display, and look forward to showcasing the stars of tomorrow.”
