Charnwood College Riders have progressed to the next round of the ISF World 3×3 Championships in Belgrade, making it successfully through the group stages of the competition and will enter the knockout rounds on July 27th.
The Charnwood College Riders Girls moved through the group phase of the tournament undefeated with a 5-0 record after an excellent start to the competition in Serbia.
The Charnwood College Girls will face the Netherlands in the next round of the competition on Wednesday.
Head Coach Krumesh Patel is pleased with the team’s performance so far.
“Great first two days at the ISF world championships. The girls have been incredible and playing some great basketball at key moments.
“The team have adapted well and are putting in what we’ve practice over the last few weeks since the end of the season. It’s great to have topped the group for a second time in this competition and now it’s survive and advance time!”
The Charnwood College Riders Boys have also progressed through the group stage in their first appearance at a World Championships event, with a 4-2 record including a victory over hosts Serbia.
The Boys will face Latvia on Wednesday in the Last 16 of the competition hoping to advance to the Quarter-Finals on the final day on Thursday.
Head Coach Will Maynard is pleased with the groups progress so far.
“Great achievement for our boys to progress through the group stage.”
“We have got better and better as the tournament has developed, and we have got use to how physical some of the other countries play. We are all extremely enjoying our time and soaking up all these different experiences. We will rest tomorrow and prepare to play Latvia in the next round on Wednesday.”
