Charnwood College Riders travelled to the west midlands as they took on City of Birmingham Rockets in the second round of the cup. It was the visitors who came out on top 96-37.

The Riders followed on their good defensive performance, only giving up 11 points within the whole first half. After a comfortable lead in the first half, the Charnwood Riders had full control on the game. Showing great displays of team basketball in the second half, they continued to push the lead out to finish the game 96 to 37.

“We showed spells of great togetherness in this game,” head coach Will Maynard commented. “At times we really moved the ball well and found good shots. We put a emphases on team basketball and moving the ball. I wanted to see if the boys could not only create for themselves but also create for their team mates, and make players around them better.”

“With a comfortable lead we got a chance to work on some things during the game. I gave the players certain offences and defences I wanted and the players responded really well.”

Another win for the Charnwood College Riders, takes them into the third round of the cup where they play Derby Trailblazers. Before then its back to the League where the Riders will prepare to take on Team Birmingham Elite in league action on the 11th November.
