Charnwood College Riders Girls head to Alicante this week for Torneo Ciudad De Alicante featuring teams from across Europe in a holiday tournament from April 18-20th.

Loughborough’s Charnwood College Riders, which is part of the David Ross Education Trust, arrived in Spain earlier today to take part in the three day event alongside teams from Ireland, Israel, Finland and hosts Spain.

The programme continues to branch into Europe to test the players against new and different styles of basketball as well as help the players to experience different cultures and make connections with students and teams from across the world.

With Final Fours for U18 Girls on the horizon the team will use the games as preparation for the two day event in Manchester at the start of May.

Head Coach Krumesh Patel is looking forward to the experience for the team.

“This is an opportunity for us to ahead of the Final Four and we were very pleased to be invited to such a tournament.

“The girls will get to experience European basketball at a great event over the three days and push themselves against good competition.

“The trip will be a good occasion for the group as it is always great to see them get the opportunity to play aboard and experience new cultures.

“Thank you to Basketball Club San Blas Alicante for the invitation to be involved in such an event, we look forward to their hospitality.”
