Leicester Riders look to end their homestand on a high with a win against the Sheffield Sharks this Friday, before going on a long away stretch that doesn’t see the team return home for nearly a month.
Sheffield comes into the game off the back of a five-game winning streak, which leaves them second in the standings after winning the last four at home.
Rider’s guard Tyler Bernardini said: “Sheffield is playing really good basketball
this year, especially over the stretch of recent games they played. It’s going to be a tight competitive game with both teams looking to keep one in the loss
“It’s going to be challenging as they play a certain way and we play completely
different, so it will be exciting to see the matches and how it all plays out”
On the plus side, the Riders have had a positive surge of energy this week, with the return of TrayVonn Wright. The player returns home after stints in both Sweden and Greece.
With Wright back in training this week, Bernardini believes his return will have a
big impact on the remainder of the season with just his energy alone.
“It’s been a really good week of practice, obviously having a guy we played with a
lot helps, but its also important that he understands what we as a team are trying
to do. But most importantly is the fact he completely changed the energy of the
group, with his positive and competitive attitude.”
As it’s the last of the Rider’s home stand they will be looking to make a statement
at home with a win against one of the inform teams of the league, before
traveling to Worcester to play the Wolves on the 17th.
