Leicester Riders Captain Tyler Bernardini and shooting guard Eric Robertson have announced that the BBL Final victory is to be their final professional game of basketball.
Bernardini has lifted six trophies for the club as captain in the last two season and will exit the Riders having won 8 pieces of silverware over the last four seasons following time in Italy as a professional player.
Alongside playing Bernardini completed his masters at Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics was part of the roster that saw the club from.
“It’s been a great four years here with the Riders and previously in Italy. It is a career that I am incredibly appreciative to have had and an opportunity that has been great.
“I am so proud of my time here and so happy to go out having won double treble seasons and finishing the season off the way that we did today. It is a sweet way to end a career.”
Eric Robertson also announced that the Playoff Final would be his final professional game.
Robertson has helped the club to six professional titles in his two seasons with the Leicester Riders as well as earning All-Defensive team honours for the 2017-18 season.
Robertson combined his playing duties for the Riders with studies at Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics, playing for Loughborough University to lead them to two National British University and College Sport titles, earning MVP honours in both games.
“I never planned to use basketball as a career but it has been a great opportunity come here to spend these two years playing but also study and now I get to finish up my degree and head home to work towards something else.
“I have really enjoyed the two years here and it has been really good for me.”
The combo have combined for six pieces of silverware in the last two seasons in the club leading the back court production during that time for Coach Paternostro’s side.
