Leicester Riders have signed British Forward Andy Thomson to a two-year deal in the latest move of the summer.
Andy Thompson will join the Leicester Riders for the 2016-17 season following agreeing terms with the club on a two-year deal.
The 6’10” forward averaged over 13 points and 8 rebounds last season in the BBL and is no stranger to success in the league following multiple trophy winning seasons the Newcastle Eagles as well as previously at the Mersey Tigers, a period at which Thomson was teammates with Drew Sullivan.
Furnley House, one of the Leicester Riders great commercial partners, will proudly be supporting Andy Thomson as his Player Sponsor for the upcoming season.
A former England International, Thomson has collated a total 13 pieces of silverware in his time in the BBL, something that the Leicester Riders fans will look forward to him trying to add to next season.
Head Coach Rob Paternostro commented on the recent move.
“Andy is a player that has been around this league a long time, I have always admired the way that he plays.
“He is a player that is extremely versatile for his size; a good shooter, good passer and productive on the boards and when you look around the league and look at talented British players, Andy is up there at the top of the list.
“We certainly feel he is going to fit in very well here and he is a guy that has a passion for winning like we do.”
Thomson will join the team in preseason ahead of the 2016-17 title defense for the Leicester Riders as the club approaches it’s first full season at the Leicester Sports Arena.
