Leicester Riders grabbed a 88-87 victory at the buzzer against the Cheshire Phoenix to remain unbeaten in BBL Championship action.
In a very back and forth affair the game Riders narrowly trailed down the stretch. Neil Watson knocked down huge drag back three pointer before the Phoenix responded with a big plays from Watt and Aliu. Cheshire Phoenix forward Gareth Murray put the visitors in front by a single point with 2.2 seconds remaining on the clock.
Coach Paternostro used his final timeout and Conner Washington checked in to the game. On the inbound Washington found himself open for a mid-range two. The talented young guard let it fly and the arena erupted as the ball flowed through the hoops for the win.
Head Coach Rob Paternostro was pleased to pick up the win in a front of a great crowd at Loughborough University.
“It was a great game by both teams which came down to the last play. They made a shot but we had two seconds left, it was a great shot from Conner [Washington]. A really great atmosphere in here tonight.”
The Riders now head to Glasgow to face the Rocks before returning home to face the Bristol Flyers as BBL Championship action.
