Leicester Riders completed a strong 83-65 win at third place Worcester Wolves on Friday.
A close and compelling contest turned at the end of the third period when Tyler Bernardini beat the buzzer from beyond-the-arc to stretch a four-point lead to seven.
He then added five more points in a 7-0 first minute of the final stanza as Rob Paternostro’s side seized the initiative before going on to complete a win that sees them improve to a 10-1 record in second position in the BBL Championship.
Worcester had started the game well, ending the first period in front before Drew Sullivan began to exert his influence on the game, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists – while Neil Watson added 20 points and five assists. Tyler Bernardini led the scoring for the Riders with an impressive 24 points to go a long with 12 rebounds showing his strength on both ends of the floor.
It is Riders’ second victory over Wolves this season too, meaning they now hold the head-to-head tie-breaker, should the teams finish the season with the same record.
The Riders now prepare to take on Bristol Flyers at home ahead of the holidays on December 22nd at Loughborough University.
